Sempé Armagnac VSOP

Sempé VSOP is a well-known Armagnac from the established house of Sempé, located in the Gascony region of Southwest France. As a VSOP (Very Superior Old Pale), this expression is a blend where the youngest constituent brandy has been aged for a minimum of four years in traditional oak casks. Sempé's VSOP is generally crafted to be an accessible and representative example of the category, balancing the Armagnac's inherent fruitiness with the vanilla and spice notes imparted by oak aging. It is bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV).

• Nose: Approachable and inviting, often featuring aromas of fresh and cooked fruits (like plum, grape, and apricot) alongside developing notes of vanilla, light caramel, and gentle wood spice (cinnamon, perhaps a hint of nutmeg or clove). Subtle floral hints might also be present.
• Palate: Smooth and medium-bodied. Flavors typically reflect the nose with cooked orchard fruits and vanilla sweetness playing a key role, balanced by light toffee or caramel notes and subtle, warming baking spices from the oak maturation. It's generally well-rounded and easy to appreciate.
