Laphroaig Lore is a premium core range expression from the Islay distillery, crafted to embody the accumulated wisdom ('lore') passed down through generations of distillery managers. This non-age-stated single malt achieves its profound depth and complexity through a meticulous selection of whiskies matured in a variety of cask types, including first-fill sherry butts, smaller quarter casks, and selected older Laphroaig stock. Bottled non-chill filtered at 48% ABV, Lore offers a rich, intricate, and deeply flavored interpretation of the classic Laphroaig character.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Rich and complex, combining deep peat smoke (bonfire, medicinal) with pronounced sherry influences – dark chocolate, dried fruits (raisins, dates), leather, and a hint of polish. Notes of vanilla, toasted nuts, maritime brine, and subtle spice add further layers.
• Palate: Full-bodied, oily, and mouth-coating. Intense peat smoke and ash hit upfront, quickly followed by rich flavours of dark chocolate, espresso, molasses, and sherry-soaked fruit. Warming spice (cloves, black pepper), vanilla sweetness, and Laphroaig's signature salinity create a complex interplay.
• Finish: Very long, warming, and complex. Lingering notes of peat smoke, dark chocolate bitterness, dried fruit sweetness, oak spice, ash, and persistent maritime saltiness, often ending with a dry, spicy character.
