Juniper Grove American Dry Gin is produced by Bently Heritage Distillery in Minden, Nevada. A key aspect of this gin is its estate-produced nature, using oats and wheat grown on the Bently family ranch as its base spirit. It is triple-distilled in copper pot stills.

Botanicals: Juniper Grove American Dry Gin features a relatively concise selection of five classic botanicals:

  • Juniper
  • Coriander
  • Angelica Root
  • Lime Zest
  • Lemon Zest

Some sources mention cardamom as a sixth botanical.

Tasting Notes:

  • Nose: The aroma is often described as bright and citrusy, with a noticeable presence of juniper and prominent notes of fresh lime and lemon peel. Some detect a pleasant herbaceousness.
  • Palate: The gin offers a balanced flavor profile where the juniper provides a classic piney foundation, complemented by the zesty and refreshing citrus notes. The oat-based spirit contributes a velvety and smooth texture with a subtle creaminess. Hints of coriander and a touch of spice from the angelica root can also be present.
  • Finish: The finish is generally clean and crisp, with the citrus and juniper notes lingering pleasantly, sometimes with a hint of spice.

Awards and Recognition: Juniper Grove American Dry Gin has received several accolades, including:

  • Gold Medal at the USA Spirits Ratings in 2021.
  • Platinum Medal at the Las Vegas Global Spirit Awards in 2021.
  • Gold Medal at the New York International Spirits Competition in 2020.
  • Silver Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2021.
  • Silver Medal at the Bartender Spirits Awards in 2021.
  • Bronze Medal at the SIP Awards in 2020.

Overall Impression: Juniper Grove American Dry Gin is generally well-regarded as a smooth, clean, and balanced American Dry Gin. Its citrus-forward character distinguishes it slightly from more traditional London Dry styles while still providing a solid juniper backbone. The unique oat-based spirit contributes to a pleasant texture. It is considered versatile for various cocktails, particularly those where a bright and refreshing gin is desired, such as a Gin & Tonic or Martini.
