Product Description:
Fortaleza Añejo Tequila is a premium, handcrafted tequila produced by Tequila Fortaleza, a distillery renowned for its commitment to traditional methods. It's made from 100% blue weber agave grown on the family's estate in the Tequila Valley of Jalisco, Mexico.
What sets Fortaleza apart is its dedication to time-honored techniques. The agave piñas are slow-cooked in a small brick oven, crushed using a traditional tahona (stone wheel), and fermented in small wood tanks. The tequila is then double-distilled in copper pot stills and aged in American oak barrels for 18 to 24 months.
This extended aging process imparts a rich, complex character to the tequila, making it a favorite among aficionados who appreciate the nuances of a well-aged spirit.
Tasting Notes:
- Appearance: Deep amber with golden hues.
- Nose: Rich and inviting aromas of cooked agave, caramel, vanilla, butterscotch, toasted oak, and hints of dried fruits (raisins, figs). Subtle notes of baking spices (cinnamon, nutmeg) may also be present.
- Palate: Smooth and velvety with a complex flavor profile. Cooked agave sweetness is balanced by notes of caramel, vanilla, oak, and a gentle spice. The tahona process contributes a subtle earthy minerality.
- Finish: Long and warming with a lingering sweetness and a pleasant oaky dryness. The finish is smooth and satisfying, leaving a lasting impression.
