Product Description:
Ardbeg 25 Years Old represents the pinnacle of the distillery's permanent core range, the oldest expression currently offered. This ultra-premium Islay single malt is crafted from exceptionally rare Ardbeg spirit, distilled during the 1990s when production at the distillery was extremely limited. Matured for a quarter of a century, this whisky showcases an astonishing level of complexity where Ardbeg's powerful peat smoke has mellowed and intricately woven itself with layers of flavour developed through long aging in oak casks. It offers a glimpse into a more refined, elegant, and profoundly complex dimension of Ardbeg.
Tasting Notes:
-
Nose: Complex and captivating. Mellow, fragrant woodsmoke intertwines with notes of smoked cream, lemon zest, fennel, pine resin, beeswax, and hints of tropical fruit (like melon or guava). There's an underlying minerality and antique character.
-
Palate: Exceptionally smooth, creamy, and elegant mouthfeel. The peat smoke is present but beautifully integrated, manifesting as smoked lemon, warm black pepper spice, and hints of tar. This is balanced by flavours of vanilla fudge, crème brûlée, toasted almonds, menthol coolness, and subtle herbal notes. Remarkable depth and poise.
-
Finish: Extremely long, evolving, and sophisticated. Lingering notes of refined peat smoke, creamy vanilla, lemon sherbet, gentle spice, and a characteristic Ardbeg salinity persist, showcasing the profound complexity achieved over 25 years.
